About Coach Fernando
Founder of FDB Soccer Former Professional Player USSF “B” Licensed Coach
Coach Fernando de Barros isn’t just another coach - he’s a lifelong student of the game with a mission to elevate the standard of youth soccer development in the U.S.
Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Fernando’s soccer journey began at age five. By the age of 14, his talent had already caught the attention of professional scouts. He signed with Centro Italo Venezolano, a youth academy tied to an Italian club, and progressed quickly through the ranks. At 17, he made his professional debut with Deportivo Italia, competing in Venezuela’s Pro Tier. But after two years of top-tier competition, a major injury forced him to reassess his future.
Refusing to walk away from the sport he loved, Fernando earned a collegiate scholarship to play NCAA Division I soccer at Radford University. He later transferred to Shorter University (DII), where he helped guide his team to back-to-back conference finals. These experiences gave Fernando not just a deeper understanding of the game but a growing passion for teaching it.
A Coaching Career Built on Purpose
Fernando began coaching youth soccer in 2014 while still in college. What started as a side job quickly grew into a purpose-driven career. Over the past decade, he has coached players at every level, from recreational programs to elite travel clubs, college, and professional athletes.

- Girls Academy Technical Director at NASA TOPHAT
Why He Founded FDB Soccer
After years in the coaching world, Coach Fernando observed a common problem: young players weren’t receiving sufficient individual technical development. Team practices were focused on tactics and game prep, but not as much on ball mastery, technique, or decision-making under pressure.
That’s what inspired him to launch FDB Soccer - a modern, online training platform designed to give serious players access to high-level skill development, no matter where they live.
Through customized video sessions, player assessments, quizzes, and real-time feedback, Coach Fernando empowers players to:
